International Women’s Day

International Women's Day

On the 8th of March every year, the world comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), a day dedicated to honouring the achievements of women and advocating for gender equality. This year, the theme resonates deeply with the core values of empowerment and progress. The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion,” emphasising the importance of creating a world where every woman feels valued, respected, and included.

As stated on the International Women’s Day website, “When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.” These words encapsulate the essence of the movement towards gender equality – a collective effort to build a more inclusive society where women have equal opportunities and representation in all aspects of life.

For over a century, International Women’s Day has been at the forefront of the fight for global gender equality. Organisations worldwide have rallied behind this cause, recognising the importance of diversity and inclusion in fostering a more equitable world. At The Menopause Consortium, we are proud to align ourselves with the principles of International Women’s Day, actively working towards women’s economic empowerment and inclusion.

Our commitment to inclusion manifests in various ways, including:

  1. Recruiting, Retaining, and Developing Female Talent: We strive to create an environment where women are encouraged to thrive and grow professionally.
  2. Supporting Women and Girls into Leadership, Decision-making, Business, and STEM: We advocate for equal representation of women in leadership roles and STEM fields, breaking down barriers and stereotypes.
  3. Designing and Building Infrastructure Meeting the Needs of Women and Girls: We prioritise the creation of infrastructure that caters to the diverse needs of women and girls, ensuring their safety, accessibility, and comfort.
  4. Helping Women and Girls Make Informed Decisions About Their Health: We empower women with knowledge and resources to make informed choices about their health and well-being.
  5. Involving Women and Girls in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security: We recognise the vital role women play in agriculture and food security, promoting their participation and leadership in these critical sectors.
  6. Providing Women and Girls with Access to Quality Education and Training: We believe in the transformative power of education and strive to provide women and girls with equal opportunities to learn and develop their skills.
  7. Elevating Women and Girls’ Participation and Achievement in Sport: We celebrate women’s achievements in sports and advocate for equal opportunities and recognition in all athletic endeavours.
  8. Promoting Creative and Artistic Talent of Women and Girls: We support and showcase the creative talents of women and girls, fostering an inclusive environment for artistic expression and innovation.
  9. Addressing Further Areas Supporting the Advancement of Women and Girls: We remain committed to identifying and addressing additional challenges and barriers to gender equality, advocating for systemic change and progress.

Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, I proudly stand in solidarity with all women in the advancement of equality. Together, let us continue to inspire inclusion, forge a more inclusive world, and work towards a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, succeed, and make her voice heard.

Happy International Women’s Day!
